How to add or remove cell borders

Our generator provides a basic tool for editing of individual cells’ borders. Specifically, it is possible to edit vertical and horizontal border of each cell separately. Below you can see an example animation explaining how to edit borders.

Editing of table's borders

By holding SHIFT a border can be added to / removed from a whole row or column.

A border is shared by the two cells it separates: clicking it from either cell adds or removes the same line. While editing borders, the buttons next to the editing button choose the line to draw: a single or a double line (\hline\hline, ||, or \hhline where it crosses vertical lines). Booktabs tables have single rules only; a \cmidrule under a merged cell, such as the header of a group of columns, ends with the cell and is trimmed at its ends, so that the rules under neighbouring groups do not touch.

Using only horizontal lines should be preferred as it improves legibility in most cases.
